Because we care about our environment

Coal, oil and natural gas will still cover almost four fifths of Germany's primary energy needs in 2022. When fossil fuels are burned, enormous amounts of the greenhouse gas CO2 are emitted, which is deposited in the earth's atmosphere and contributes to global warming through the greenhouse effect.

Photovoltaics not only create an energy supply independent of fossil fuels, but also offer numerous advantages to the immediate environment.

Climate change

The consequences of global warming are already being felt in this country with milder winters and more extreme summers. While the effects in Central Europe can still be somewhat mitigated, ongoing crises are emerging in poorer countries and will make entire areas of land uninhabitable in the future, so that climate change can become the number 1 cause of flight. In order to mitigate these effects, all areas of life must be converted to renewable energy sources as quickly as possible. Over 195 nations have committed themselves to climate protection in the Paris Agreement; in Germany this is done through the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).

Floor

Intensively polluted soils are the result of over-fertilization, erosion and nitrate pollution over years. intensive agricultural use. A solar park gives the soil the chance to renaturate and recover over a period of at least 30 years so that it can then be used for agriculture again. During the operational phase of the solar park, the area only temporarily changes its usage status to “special area for photovoltaics”. After dismantling it will return to its original status.

Air

Energy-related emissions not only appear in the form of clouds of smoke, but also harm the health of our planet. In addition to global warming, which is caused by the release of CO2 and methane when extracting and burning fossil fuels (greenhouse effect), this is particularly noticeable for us through air pollution from fine dust.

On the one hand, photovoltaics helps to mitigate global warming and keep the air clean and free of pollutants and, on the other hand, thanks to the possibility of largely location-independent planning, it prevents the dismantling of further villages and towns that have already too often fallen victim to the expansion of coal mining regions are.

Water

Solar parks can also be a real blessing for water protection areas. Precipitation can easily seep evenly into the ground through gaps between the modules, and the groundwater, which is heavily polluted in many places, can be protected from further contamination. This gives the groundwater the opportunity to regenerate over a long period of time. The shading under the modules allows precipitation to penetrate into the groundwater without immediately evaporating.

Plant

By sowing flowering mixtures in consultation with the lower nature conservation authority, a veritable biotope is created on the less than 1% sealed area of the solar park. The area is therefore used sensibly in two respects: “above” the efficient production of renewable energy and “below” the creation of a species-rich plant diversity.

Animals

The solar park, which is fenced off from the ground, is ideal as a retreat for small mammals such as rabbits or hedgehogs. In addition, the species-rich flowering meadows create new habitat for entire insect populations. In cooperation with local farmers or breeders, animals such as sheep can also be housed on the land and beehives can be placed in an environment that is optimal for bees.
